This community appears to continue up and down slope. In between this plot and BLUE.32 was a slightly richer Tilia americana / Acer saccharum cove. The community probably varies from Quercus rubra / Acer sacchrum on the nose to Tilia americana / Acer saccharum in the cove, for the next 2 coves.;Steep cool midslope. The soils are acidic (5.5). This plot has less rock cover than BLUE.32. There is lots of windthrow scattered about. Well traveled deer trails meander along the slope.
Representativeness
Large patch. Cool, steep northern aspect. The T2 is dominated by Quercus rubra and Acer saccharum with some Tsuga found in the T3. The shrub and herbaceous layers are sparse. The plot was placed to see what is different between here and BLUE.32. They are
